The course “Human Factors Engineering” is a professional elective course for the major of human resource management. It was the first time for me to teach the course for Human Resource Management students last semester. Two other teachers with experience in this course have completed the teaching tasks of this course for Industrial Engineering students.
Teaching methods of multimedia combined with blackboard writing were adopted in class. In order to introduce the research methodological issues and the latest research progress and research fields of this course in human resource management, the “Analysis of Application Cases of Cognitive Neuroscience in the Field of Human Resource Management” was added in addition to completing the basic teaching tasks according to the traditional teaching method which made teaching effect better, broadened horizons of students, and had a deeper understanding of their own majors. In addition, through appropriate thinking and homework, students would be able to cultivate the ability to master knowledge.
Because this course is an elective course and some students did not pay enough attention to it. Class teaching effect was not satisfactory, which eventually led to inadequate attention to the curriculum and low final exam scores. This phenomenon prominently reflected that students were not active in learning and had not formed an objective understanding of their profession and their own development. They still had not formed a strong desire to learn and cultivate good learning habits. Of course, the emergence of the above problems might also be related to the applicability of teaching content and majors. The teaching content and textbooks were exactly the same as what for Industrial Engineering. The differences in teaching content caused by major differences were not considered. Based on the above situation, I hope that in future teaching process, learning enthusiasm and initiative on students should be appropriately guided through professional recognition, and certain disciplinary constraints should be appropriately formed, such as class questioning, homework completion in class, assignments after class. At the same time the new round of syllabus revision will be used to modify the experimental content in this course, and improve the ability to apply the knowledge of this course.
